
Professor George Colligan is the Jazz Area Coordinator at Portland State University. Previously, he held a full-time position at the University of Manitoba’s Desautels Schoolf of Music and was also an adjunct instructor at The Juilliard School. He is a graduate of the Peabody School of Music, where he majored in music education.
In addition to being an active educator, George is a busy performer who has released three dozen jazz albums as a leader. He has performed or recorded with a Who’s-Who of jazz luminaries including Cassandra Wilson, Lee Konitz, Buster Williams, Lonnie Plaxico, Steve Wilson, Gary Bartz, John Scofield, and many others.
George teaches group jazz ensembles as well as private jazz piano, trumpet, organ, and drum lessons.

Kerry Politzer is a graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music. Originally a classical pianist, she became enamored of jazz in college and has performed and taught ever since.
Kerry specializes in jazz piano and composition and has served as jazz piano instructor at Portland State University since 2013. An active educator, she has given college-level clinics around the country, and has adjudicated at Boise State University’s Gene Harris Jazz Festival and the Reno Jazz Festival.
Another focus of Kerry’s is ergonomic, pain-free playing.
